Hyderabad to Shimla: An overnight journey
I was thinking about what to write in my first blog post and I decided to write about how I usually travel from Hyderabad to Shimla (my hometown) and I found this, the best way to reach Shimla from Hyderabad. I live in Hyderabad, which is about 2000 Km away from Shimla. When I travel back home, I don’t want to waste my time traveling, all I want is to be at home at earliest. So, I always plan to minimize my travel time. In this blog, I’ll talk about my recent journey to my home.
Hyderabad to Delhi – Flights
I have an option of taking Hyderabad- Chandigarh flight, but the travel time is more because there is no direct flight from Hyderabad to Chandigarh and the connecting flights have 3-4 hrs of layover time in Delhi, so I always prefer Hyderabad- Delhi flight.
There are plenty of flights from Hyderabad to Delhi, but I prefer to take a Friday evening flight, in this way I’m able to attend my office on Friday. The travel time from Hyderabad to Delhi is about 2 hrs. This time I took 7 PM flight. I left for the airport at around 5 PM from my office. The flight took off at 7 PM and I landed in Delhi at around 9 PM and then I took a bus from Delhi to Shimla and was able to reach my home by 8 AM on Saturday.
Booking a cheap flight
We all know that flight ticket prices keep increasing as the traveling date approaches. This time, I got Hyderabad- Delhi flight ticket for โน 4400 (including return), which comes down to โน 2200 (one side), good enough I guess. To get a cheap air ticket I keep looking for offers provided by various apps and websites and special discounts offered by them. Sometimes various banks also come up with good deals on flights.
Hyderabad to Delhi – Trains
Though I’ve traveled a lot in trains on other Routes, I’ve never traveled by train when going back to my home from Hyderabad. The reason is quite obvious that its time-consuming. Typically it takes around 24 hrs from Hyderabad to Delhi (as compared to 2 hrs. on the flight) and the price is too close to flight ticket if you like to travel in AC coaches. It’s about โน2000 (3AC class) for one side and goes as high as โน4500 for 1AC. Hence, I find a flight deal much better.
Delhi To Shimla – HRTC volvo bus Experience
From Delhi, there are many buses plying towards Shimla. You will get direct buses ( both luxury as well as ordinary) run by Himachal Roadways from the Kashmere gate. It is about 25 km from the Delhi international airport. You can check the ticket availability on the HRTC Website. I always book my bus tickets at least 2 days prior to my journey. You can also go by Punjab roadways, Haryana roadways, or by buses operated by private operators. The AC buses by HRTC are really comfortable. The HRTC buses halt 2-3 times on the journey from Delhi to Shimla for refreshments.
HRTC owns AC buses that are build by from Scania and Volvo. The seats of the bus is really comfortable and are adjustable as per the seating posture of the person. The adjustable pads for leg support makes the journey more comfortable. The overhead bins have enough area to store the luggage. Moreover, there is extra luggage space under the seating area. Water bottles and vomit bags are also provided by the bus conductor.
Delhi to Shimla Flights
If you cant bear a 10 Hour bus journey, then there is a good news for you. Air India have a direct flight available from Delhi to Shimla. Though, the flight operations were suspended in 2020. The Delhi to Shimla flight operations are expected to resume again.
Can we reach Shimla by air from Hyderabad ?
Yes, we can reach Shimla by air, but the direct flight is not available from Hyderabad. Flights for Shimla are available from Delhi. Shimla airport has restarted operations after the launch of the UDAAN scheme of the central government. Under the scheme, you can book your flight from Delhi to Shimla starting from โน1800. Moreover, HP Govt. have started Helicopter Taxi service from Chandigarh., whereby you can travel from Chandigarh to Shimla by helicopter, the fare is โน2999.

Superb blog! Do you have any recommendations for aspiring writers?
I’m hoping to start my own website soon but I’m a little lost on everything.
Would you propose starting with a free platform like WordPress or go for
a paid option? There are so many options out there that
I’m completely confused .. Any recommendations? Appreciate it!

I would suggest starting with blogger.com or free WordPress. Don’t go for a paid option, as you are just starting out. When you see traffic coming in, then you can purchase a domain name and switch to paid hosting.
