There was a time when there was guaranteed snow at certain dates like Christmas, near year eve, Republic Day (26th Jan). But now you have to rely on regular weather forecasts and ground updates. Shimla Toy train – Snow limitations

The Kalka Shimla toy train route is almost 96 KMs. The snowfall does not happen on the entire stretch unfortunately. Nowadays the snowfall happens beyond kathleeghat railway station. However, the snow lasts longer on the rail line between Jutogh railway station and Shimla railway station.

A Big mistake that tourists make

A lot of people travel on Shimla toy train after hearing the snowfall news. The biggest mistake that they do while doing the journey is that they deboard at Taradevi railway station due to hotel reservations. I want to advise that if you want to experience snowy tracks then you need to deboard at Shimla railway station only, NOT before that

Shimla toy train – best way to enjoy the snow ride

To make the best out of your ride you need to board the train at Shoghi railway station and deboard at Shimla railway station. OR if coming from shimla, you can deboard at Shoghi railway station if you don’t wish to travel fully by train, from shoghi you can take a bus or a cab to reach chandigarh faster
